Los Niños Hospital Inc., an affiliate of Hacienda HealthCare, was founded in 1994 as Arizona’s first and only subacute pediatric hospital. Los Niños specializes in both high quality acute and subacute  care for infants, children, and teens. Subacute patients are medically fragile and often require specialized services. These services can include tracheotomy care, intravenous tube feeding, inhalation therapy, and complex wound management care.

 Los Niños was designed to be a small home-like children’s hospital where parents can come any time of the day or night to be at their children’s bedside.  Private and semi-private rooms are cheerfully decorated. The staff is exceptionally caring and many are fluent in Spanish. Los Niños provides a lower cost alternative for inpatient medical care and specialty services previously only available in a large medial complex. All services are coordinated with primary care physicians. 

The hospital provides continuing, transitional and rehabilitative care to patients. Other programs that the hospital provides include  Los Niños Therapy Services Program and Los Niños Synagis Clinic. The Therapy Services Program was first launched in 2001 as the first and still the only therapy program that specializes in services for infants, children, and young adults with developmental disabilities. The program provides a broad spectrum of physical, occupational and speech therapy services.

 Each year, 100,000 babies are hospitalized in the U.S. with respiratory synctial virus (RSV) of which 4,500 will die. Premature infants and those born with chronic lung disease or congenital heart disease are at greatest risk due to the underdevelopment of their lungs and immune systems.

The Los Niños Synagis program is Arizona’s first and only non-hospital based Synagis clinic. Synagis injections are given on an outpatient basis located in a clean environment in one of six beautiful locations in Phoenix, Tucson, Gilbert, Flagstaff, Prescott, and Denver, Colorado.

 Knowing that there is great difficulty and expense for the developmentally disabled and medically fragile patients to visit medical providers, Los Niños provides a variety of other  home based services. These  include a home ventilator program, home enteral feeding program, and Innovative Home Health Care for the developmentally disabled, and Los Niños Home Medical Services. Home nursing services are provided to patients with developmental disabilities throughout Maricopa County. Home Medical Services provides products as well as expert education, training and ongoing monitoring to ensure patient safety.
