The USS KIDD Veterans Museum serves Louisiana veterans by advocating for them on local & regional issues; by informing the public on challenges & sacrifices veterans have faced; and by educating our greater community of the role that Louisiana & its citizens have played in U.S. history.
The Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission was created under the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism by Act 415 in 1979. The Commission provides oversight for the USS KIDD Veterans Museum and the Fletcher-class Destroyer, USS KIDD (DD-661).
