LVAA engages artists and audiences through an energetic agenda of education, community outreach, artist support and exhibitions. These programs nurture creative expression and stimulate dialogue, thereby enriching contemporary culture and community spirit.
LVAA's flagship education program, Children's Fine Art Classes (CFAC) provides out of shcool time art classes for visually talented students, ages 9-18. This 88-year-old program is covered by scholarship so that economic status plays no part in a child's participation.  Each year over 900 students from eight counties in Kentucky and four counties in Southern Indiana receive free art instruction and mentoring. Thirty-four classes are offered in twenty-eight convenient neighborhood sites to ensure accessibility. Last year, eighty percent of CFAC graduating seniors were offered scholarships and financial aid to post- secondary art programs from around the country. The annual operating budget for CFAC is $280,000.Â
LVAA also engages artists and audiences through its community art outreach program, OPEN DOORS. Founded in 1989, this umbrealla program of classes and art enrichment experiences is designed to give a voice to under-served populations. Projects pair local professional artists with groups who have limited access to the vsual arts to collaborate in creating works of self-expression.Â
Artebella is LVAA's newest artist marketing program. This website and daily email feature the work of a different Louisville-area artist each weekday. This fantastic promotional outlet puts local artists on the global stage.Â
