Love in Chains

Love in Chains was started long before it came to fruition. Our organization started as a mustard seed inside the heart of a mother separated from her child. This mother was incarcerated in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. It was the initial pain of NOT being able to take your only child to school for her VERY FIRST day. That was the beginning of many misfortunes surrounding a mother forced to love her child while in chains. The gap that is wedged between children and their incarcerated loved ones needs to be bridged. That is where this organization comes into play. We aide in the communication process before release as well as the reintegration process. It is way easier to try to imagine being in prison separated from loved ones versus the actual excruciating pain. It is the helplessness of the situation; usually upon re-entry parents are eager to make up for lost time, yet it is very much harder with an offender title on your back. Parents and children continue to pay the inflated price of going through the criminal justice system long after a person is released from jail or prison.

Love In Chains was formed legally about 6 months prior to the Covid pandemic. This defiantly slowed our traction and forced us to come out of pocket for all utilities and expenses. We're still here. Still standing. We have a mission and we will complete it! Our goal is to help 10,000 families by the year end of 2023. Seems like a big number but micro compared to the number of inmates incarcerated in the great state of Texas. Though we started small we have grown to regularly feed the homeless whom the majority of have been affected by this same justice system. We aim to soon provide mental health attention and job assistance to those previously incarcerated as well as those forced to survive without stable housing.
