Lowell Observatory knows research.  Our astronomers discovered the first evidence of the expanding nature of the universe and that beloved solar system body known as Pluto.  Today, our scientists continue to operate at the forefront of research and technology, using the fabulous new Discovery Channel Telescope and other instruments to unravel the mysteries of the universe.

Lowell Observatory also knows education.  Our founder Percival Lowell shared a vision of not only carrying out research, but sharing the results of that research with the general public.  Today, our educators welcome 80,000 visitors per year and host activity-rich camps targeting pre-school through middle school youth.  Our scientists and educators also collaborate with Navajo and Hopi schools to share the wonders of space with those underserved communities.

Guests to our facilities can travel along scale models of the solar system and universe, explore traveling exhibits in our visitor center, share in the discoveries of our scientists, and learn about the important research of years gone by.

Your gift to Lowell Observatory will help support these education and outreach activities, from hands-on kids astronomy programs to exhibits about our current and past research.
