Dedicated to expressing the love of Christ by serving and caring for people in need, Lutheran Social Services of Nevada (LSSN) has served low-income and housing-insecure families and seniors in Las Vegas for nearly 25 years. Now, in the wake of COVID-19 and the temporary closure of local businesses, casinos, and other services in Las Vegas, we are seeing more individuals in need than ever before.

Between 3/16 and 4/16, our Digimart Food Pantry served over 1,600 families (5,000 individuals) with Emergency Boxes of food. That's over four times the number of individuals we see in a normal month. On average, between 30% and 50% of the families visiting our Digimart Food Pantry on a given day report that they have never visited LSSN before COVID-19. We are also seeing an increase in requests for rental  assistance and housing assessments as families without jobs find their budgets stretched thinner and a bigger demand for our free Senior Meals, served every weekday through our Heart of the City Senior Meal Program.

In the coming days and weeks, we expect this need to only increase. Now, more than ever, we are committed to our mission to continue to serve and care for all people in need in our community.

Will you join LSSN in the fight against COVID-19 and stand strong behind our shoulders, as you have for the past 25 years? We need you now more than ever!
