Many children in Haiti have been denied the right to an education simply because their parents cannot afford it and the government only funds 10% of Haiti’s elementary and secondary schools.  In addition, about 60% of the students in Haiti drop out before reaching the sixth grade. The main cause is that they cannot afford the school fees.

Light the World Foundation's greatest challenge among others in our efforts to educate as many children as possible is financial.  Despite commitments from our team and several members of the community, more resources are needed to design and implement programs that will help educate children in Haiti and provide opportunities for youth development in our local communities. 

Light the World Foundation (LTWF) was founded in November 2009 on the idea that a lot of talents in our communities are being wasted while they could be channeled and used for a greater purpose.

Our mission is to educate children in Haiti and provide youth in communities in the New York City and Long Island area with opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Current Programs:

1. Full Tuition Scholarship for Children in Haiti
2. Up to $5K Scholarship for College-bound students in the New York area.
3. Youth Empowerment Mentorship (Mentorship calls & In-Person Workshops/Seminars )

One of our long-term goals is to build an educational center in Haiti that runs programs ranging from a cultural to technical spectrum.  As we invest in education, we also provide health and humanitarian aid when and where needed.

Our foundation is funded solely through public donations, sponsorships, and fundraising events such as concerts, banquets, auctions, and several other types of activities. So, your monetary gifts and volunteer support are welcomed.
