Lutheran Island Camp and Retreat Center is located on a secluded 67 acres surrounded by East Battle Lake in west-central Minnesota. The camp is about ten miles west of the city of Henning and ten miles east of the city of Battle Lake, Minnesota. The Island is approximately 45 miles north of I-94, midway between Alexandria and Fergus Falls.

Established in 1952, Lutheran Island Camp is moving ahead by God's grace into its second half-century of providing a quality Christian camping experience for all ages. Development of the camp and its facilities has continued throughout the years, from the early construction of cabins, to the construction of the Education and Retreat Center (ERC) in 1981, to the completion of the Martha Cabin in 2004, to the new roof on the recreation hall and chapel in January 2006. In recent years most of the cabins have been updated, the ERC has been renovated, and our chapel and recreation hall have been converted into a conference center.

The property is owned by the Minnesota North District of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, with the camp operations incorporated separately and receiving its funding through camper registration fees plus tax-deductible contribution from individuals, families, groups, and congregations. If you are a Thrivent Financial for Lutherans member, you can designate your Giving Choice dollars to Lutheran Island Camp.

Christ Serve Ranch was dedicated in August of 2015. Our Science and Environmental Learning Center provides programs in Leadership, Horse Outreach, Science, Outdoor Education and Equine College will all use Christ Serve Ranch.

We are developing significant plans for expanding our programming for people with disabilities, returning veterans, foster children, parochial schools, and seniors.
