Mid Nebraska Individual Services (MNIS)

MNIS strives to support an individual in achieving an optimal healthy lifestyle as a foundation to promote learning skills essential to live work as a productive community member.

Before 1970, people with disabilities were typically institutionalized. Community-based services in central Nebraska were limited to those provided by family members, a few volunteers, or local chapters of the ARC.

In answer to the need for more than community-based services. Mid Nebraska Individual Services (MNIS) was incorporated in 1970 by a group of concerning citizens in partnership with the 22 county boards in our service area.

From the beginning, MNIS has helped people with disabilities to exercise their rights and become more productive in their communities. We do this through many services that include:

* Employment through Vocational Rehab
* Medical Services
* Transportation Services
* Community Inclusion
* Rehabilitation
* Teaching Life and Job Skills

Our emphasis is on supporting a healthier lifestyle while focusing on individual preference and capabilities. As needs change, so do the services we offer.
