Missouri Eating Disorders Association (MOEDA) is committed to breaking the silence around eating disorders.

28.8% of Americans - or over 200,000 people living in Greater St. Louis - will have an eating disorder at some point in their lifetime. Eating disorders do not discriminate - they affect people of all ages, races, genders, orientations, and body types and sizes. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, and someone dies as a direct result of an eating disorder every 52 minutes.

At MOEDA, we believe these deaths are preventable with education & early intervention. We believe that recovery is possible. We believe in a future without eating disorders. That's where Feed the Facts comes in!

Feed the Facts, our main programming offering, is a comprehensive eating disorder curriculum for middle- and high-school students in the Greater Saint Louis area. Our dedicated volunteers and staff members give these hour-long presentations to students who may otherwise have little to no education on eating disorders. The presentations educate students on eating disorder facts, symptoms, and misconceptions, as well as exposes the dangers of diet culture and encourages the use of healthy coping skills. We ensure that each and every student leaves with a solid understanding of the dangers associated with eating disorders, and a plan of what to do if they or a friend of theirs is experiencing symptoms ("tell a trusted adult")!

In 2023, over 7,400 students were reached at 31 schools during 288 Feed the Facts presentations. We collect pre- and post-presentation data to ensure that we are providing effective education and prevention materials.

A donation to MOEDA on GiveSTL Day will go toward improving, diversifying, and growing our lifesaving Feed the Facts program. It will help us continue to serve the St. Louis community and help build a future free from eating disorders.
