MacDonell Children's Services

The mission of MacDonell United Methodist Children's Services is to provide a safe haven for youth and young adults.

MacDonell Children's Services is a blessing to many children who find themselves without their biological homes due to abuse and/or neglect and the foster care system has not worked out for them due to behaviors brought on by their prior situations. At MacDonell Children's Services we ensure that while in our care, children can count on being physically secure, being fed in mind, body and spirit, and on being empowered with hope and optimism needed by everyone to move forward into successful adulthood. We strive to provide the children in our care with a loving, stable, nurturing environment they so desperately deserve while also making sure we provide them with outings and experiences to last a lifetime.. In October 2020 we opened our newly renovated Keener Hall for young adults aging out of the foster care system, it is a warm, inviting home setting where they can thrive while working and/or attending school and not have to worry about a place to live, this has been a huge blessing for many and we hope to continue this program for years to come.

Testimonials

2 of our residents in our extended foster care program graduated high school in May 2021. One of them is enrolled at Nicholls State University and the other is working full time and learning life skills to carry them into adulthood. We are extremely proud of their progress and look forward to seeing where their future takes them.
