Our Habitat for Humanity affiliate was incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 1986. Since its inception, it has served over 130 working families in Bibb and Jones counties. Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (MAHFH) follows the model of working with households earning 25-60% of the area median income to build decent, affordable houses. Households work alongside volunteers and donors to build these houses. Upon their completion, the houses are sold to partner families on a 20-year no-profit, no-interest mortgage. This mortgage income is added to financial and in-kind donations to build more Habitat for Humanity houses. Building decent, affordable housing helps strengthen working families, stabilizes neighborhoods, and adds to Macon and Bibb County’s property tax base.
