Osceola Mainstreet Skatepark

On any given day during the warm weather months, downtown Osceola becomes a haven for avid skateboarders. A problem we have is that they hone their skills on our public streets and sidewalks. Skateboarding is not illegal, but with nowhere else to go their actions often become illegal and dangerous. Our law enforcement will be the first to tell you that they feel sorry for our young people. “They enjoy practicing their sport, however they frequently do it in unsafe or unwanted areas and that becomes illegal. They just don’t have anywhere to go.”

With cooperation and approval of the Osceola Village Board, we have blueprints and cost figures for what we need to build. Using the St Croix Falls Skate Park as a model, we have identified contractor’s that can build what we need. We have requested bids from three skate park construction companies and have chosen one that can fulfill our task. The minimum construction cost is roughly $135,000. If more money can be raised we can build more park.

The facility will be a permanent concrete structure that comes with a 15 year guarantee against cracking. It will be a dual use park for skateboarders and BMX bicycles, two popular activities that can build strength, courage and enhanced quality of life for its participants. Time spent far better than sitting at home in front of a video game.

The Village Of Osceola has donated a plot of land on the southwest side of Oakey Park which is in close proximity to our Brave's baseball field and fairgrounds. This is our largest park in town and is centrally located for ease of law enforcement patrols. It is also located just one block away from Osceola's EMT/ambulance station should the need arise.

To date, we have raise roughly $32,000.  With your generous donation we can reach closer to our target construction amount of $135,000. Our monetary goal for this fundraiser is $10,000.
