MAK'HELA; The Jewish Chorus of Western Mass

Mak’hela, whose name means “chorus” in Hebrew, is a professionally led mixed voice chorus performing music from a variety of Jewish traditions, time periods and languages.   

Through our 25 plus piece chorus Mak'hela has reached over 8900 individuals over its 17 years and holds multiple concerts throughout the year, always striving to reach new audiences  in order to build interfaith understanding and "sacred bridges" through music.

During this past year Mak’hela was recognized by Choral Arts of New England with the Phoenix Award for Mak’hela’s resilience during the pandemic.  We were proud to be one of ten choral groups in New England to be given that recognition.  This was possible only because of the dedicated commitment of Mak'hela choral members and the greater Mak'hela community.

With your support, Mak'hela is ready to present a new virutal concert that is a collaboration with the PJ Library and the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts.  This celebration of Jewish music will involve children from synagogues and schools in the Pioneer Valley who will perform as well as Mak'hela and the JCA Klezmer Workshop. The grand finale features children with their families--don't miss it!
