Maliheh Free Clinic

The Maliheh Free Clinic opened May 13th of 2005 to serve uninsured patients whose incomes fell below 150% of Federal Poverty Guidelines.  The clinic vision was the result of many health care providers who were witnessing a profound need for health care for the uninsured.  More than administering medical care in response to an urgent need, the vision included providing a “medical home” to these patients.  Today, the Maliheh Free Clinic is the medical home for 6,000 individuals in our community.

There has always been a strong focus on education and disease prevention at the Maliheh Free Clinic.  This aspect of medical care is something that is non-existent for those patients who are forced to use and emergency room as
their only source of medical care.  From the beginning, the Maliheh Clinic included individual as well as group patient
education (i.e., healthy living and diabetes education) with a focus on involving patients in their own health care.
