OUR MISSION

Maple Leaf Foundation is a grassroots, nonprofit organization founded in January of 2022. We work directly with Maple Leaf Real Estate and Seattle Children's Hospital to create affordable, nurturing, child-centered housing for families who must relocate to Seattle for long term pediatric cancer care and heart transplants. The majority of our families are low to moderate income.

OUR STORY

When a child needs to access to the kind of specialized pediatric cancer or cardiac care that Seattle Children's Hospital can provide, they must immediately relocate within a 30- minute drive to Seattle Children’s Hospital for 6 months to a year.

Most families are forced to split up during the most stressful times of their lives, removing the emotional support system the family unit provides. 

Maple Leaf Foundation has a solution. We keep families together. 

We work directly with Maple Leaf Real Estate to create affordable, flexible-term rental properties. We welcome siblings, grandparents and family pets.

Our homes are cozy, furnished and packed with toys and games. The kitchens are stocked with basics, plus fresh milk and eggs waiting in the fridge, along with some strong coffee for late night arrivals.

By creating a space of rest, hope and healing for children and families of all backgrounds, we hope to transform health outcomes for the whole family.

We know that these families have a long road ahead. Their journey is not a sprint…it’s a marathon, so we turn enduring, into endurance.
