MISSION

March to the Polls (MTTP) is a nonpartisan organization with a mission to substantially increase electoral participation by underrepresented communities, primarily youth and people of color, and cultivate a lifelong commitment to voting and civic engagement, to ensure that everyone’s voice is equally heard and represented in our democracy.

OUR PROGRAMS

Through nonpartisan, collaborative partner relationships, MTTP offers three programs:

1. In Class Voter Education and Registration: We work with local public high schools to complement underfunded civics curricula, helping students register to vote and providing education on the voting process and the fundamental rights that active civic participation affords us as Americans.
2. Student Voter Empowerment Clubs: These on-campus, student-led civic engagement clubs are open to students from grades 9-12 in North Texas public high schools. In 2023-2024, there were 36 clubs across North Texas, each working to implement voting projects to encourage participation from their school community.
3. Community Outreach: We host trainings alongside county elections departments to certify individuals to register voters and provide resources to community groups on a year-round basis.

OUR GOAL THIS YEAR FOR NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY

March to the Polls is working to expand our ‘marches’ from schools to voting locations this election season.  These marches include a walk from local high schools or parks to a nearby polling location with  students,school faculty and administrators, the marching band, cheerleaders, drill team, and fellow peers to add to the excitement. MTTP incorporates voting/election themed trivia and games, with prizes, and food/drink are provided. We anticipate organizing at least 5 marches for the November 2024 election.

YOUR HELP

Your contribution this North Texas Giving Day would help educate students about their civic responsibilities, encourage participation in the democratic process, and provide those eligible with an optional, practical experience of voting via our marches. No pressure to vote or partisan electioneering occurs - this is strictly meant to create energy and excitement about voting.

Our efforts begin in a classroom setting and result in hands-on learning experiences, like marches. Hosting a march like this is fully funded by MTTP. In an effort to provide as many students with the opportunity to host a march at their school, your donation will be used towards expenses associated with a march, including but not limited to, materials, supplies, transportation and food.

BENEFITS

Civic Education: The initiative will enhance students' understanding of the democratic process as well as what to expect when they show up to vote.

Voter Participation: Encouraging students to vote at an early age can establish a lifelong habit of civic participation.

Community Engagement: The march will raise awareness in the community about the importance of youth voting and civic engagement.
