Martha's Table finds solutions to poverty in the short term with food and clothing programs and breaks the long term cycle of poverty with education and family strengthening programs.

Martha's Tables' mission is to help at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in our community improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing and enrichment opporunities.

To really get a sense of the impact we make, we want to share a story of a woman, Dorothy.

Dorothy

Dorothy has 3 kids and like many Americans, she recently lost her job.  Dorothy is determined not to go on welfare so after she became unemployed she went out to find ways to support her family.   One of her first stops was Martha’s Table. 

Dorothy is an amazing person—she created her own safety net.  She educated herself on how to get vouchers so her children could attend Martha’s Table’s daycare and after school programs.  She now receives food from our pantry program and professional clothing from Martha’s Outfitters for job interviews.  Poverty complicates life immeasurably but Dorothy’s life is complicated further.   She is a survivor of domestic violence and she had to flee her home.  Martha’s Table helped her find resources that could help her there too.

Thankfully, Dorothy and her children are safe now.  But she has a way to go before her life is back to normal again.  Martha’s Table is currently helping Dorothy with an array of services here and helping to link her to services that we do not provide.  We are helping hundreds of other families like Dorothy’s too.  It is what we do at Martha’s Table.
