Over 465,000 veterans currently call Maryland home. From the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan, brave Marylanders have answered the call of duty in all of our nation’s wars. The Maryland Veterans Memorial Museum (MVMM) seeks to honor their sacrifices and preserve their legacy and that of all veterans with the construction of a permanent memorial museum. Special emphasis will be given to Maryland veterans and Maryland's unique contributions to all national wars and the museum will provide an educational focus for school children (K-12) and the general public.
The MVMM is a non-profit, approved corporation managed by a committee of dedicated veteran volunteers. It has broad support from State of Maryland Delegates, the State of Maryland Secretary of Veterans Affairs, the Charles County Board of Commissioners, and major veteran’s organizations.
The Charles County Board of Commissioners authorized the leasing of the former Glasva Elementary School in Newburg for the museum and MVMM volunteers have been working tirelessly to restore and transform the building to bring the museum to life.
Phase I of the project was completed in August 2011. Phase II is well underway; however, there is still work that remains to be done before we can open our doors to the public in May 2013.
Please consider making your tax-deductable donation to the MVMM. Your gift, regardless the size, is deeply appreciated.
We encourage all citizens and community organizations to become part of the planning and development of the Maryland Veterans Memorial Museum. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at mdvetsmuseum@gmail.com
