The Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra was established in 1965 by John Mortarotti to provide classical music of a high caliber to the communities of the San Francisco Peninsula.  Master Sinfonia is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, performing in the communities of Los Altos, Portola Valley and Menlo Park.  Under the innovative music direction of Maestro David Ramadanoff, the orchestra has become a well-established ensemble dedicated to presenting quality concerts and showcasing locally-based soloists of international stature.

Unlike a full symphony orchestra, which may number more than 100 musicians, Master Sinfonia has about 36 musicians, the size for which early composers often wrote. The orchestra is augmented with other instruments when needed. Each member of the orchestra can be considered a soloist who is crucial to the quality of the entire ensemble.

During each concert Mr. Ramadanoff provides a stimulating and interesting overview of every composition  just before it is performed. His insights help the audience members maximize their understanding and appreciation. The combination of Mr. Ramadanoff’s high musical standards, innovative programming, talented musicians and concert lectures provides Master Sinfonia audiences with a truly memorable experience.
