May Arboretum Society

Our mission is to serve the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden through creating and maintaining educational opportunities which foster greater awareness, understanding and appreciation of the role of plants in the high desert and mountain bio-regions and by promoting the beauty and benefits of the arboretum throughout our community and state. The Society was established in 1986 and granted 501(c)3 not-for-profit status in 1994.  Through fundraising events and donations, in addition to volunteer hours, we support the continued improvement of the May Arboretum and Botanical Garden.  The gardens, located in the Rancho San Rafael Regional Park of Washoe County, are developed on 13 acres that are comprised of wetland habitats, outdoor courtyards, tree groves and specialty gardens.
