A Brief Overview of the McCall Music Society

The McCall Music Society (MMS) offers classical music concerts to the mountain communities of Valley and Adams Counties.

Our Mission

1. To enrich the quality of life in the greater community through the promotion of five star music performances at affordable prices, and free concerts every Second Sunday.

2. To expand music education opportunities for youth by providing scholarships, referrals to music instructors, and mentoring those pursuing careers in music.

3. To nurture local performing groups through financial and program support.

4. To enhance music appreciation and the cultural climate by providing a "present" full of music and a "future" of Strings in the Schools and a McCall Performing Arts Center.

MMS has a membership of approximately 250 and a volunteer Board of Directors. Our programs include sponsoring the McCall Community Orchestra and McCall Concert Singers, music scholarships for area students, master classes, co-sponsorship of the free Second Sunday Sounds@Six Concert Series, and SummerFest, a week-long classical and jazz concert series in July.

One of our Goals

Keep most concerts free of charge. If tickets are sold we want to keep them affordable for families.

SummerFest 2015, July 20 – July 26.

SummerFest is a week-long classical and jazz concert series featuring a 45-piece orchestra conducted by Maestro David Itkin, Director, College of Music at University of North Texas and Abilene Philharmonic. Featured artists this year are Tim Fain, violin;  Ted Rosenthal, jazz piano;  Nicole Greenidge Joseph, lyric soprano;  Kristen Hertzenberg, soprano;  Brandon Craswell, trumpet; Tom Harris, organ and Pamela DeMarche, jazz vocalist.  A Free Children’s Concert will be presented, as well as four other orchestra concerts, including a cabaret on the 26th. All orchestra rehearsals during the week are open to the public at no cost. SummerFest tickets avalable in town and online at Brownpapertickets.com

How funds received through Idaho Gives will be used

  • To make sure we can continue to offer nine (9) Second Sunday Sounds recitals at no cost to audience.
  • To support the annual Spring and Christmas concerts performed by the McCall Chamber Orchestra and the McCall Concert Singers that are offered at no charge to the audience.
  • To increase the number of scholarships available for local music students.
  • To supplement sponsorship of SummerFest concerts so ticket prices can be kept affordable.
  • To continue the pursuit of a "Strings in the Schools' program
  • To bring to fruition a Performing Arts Center for the community, for which there is a substantial commitment, both financially and physically, since November, 2013.
  • To bring great joy to all in the Valley City area.
