The Montgomery County Humane Society, the pre-eminent 501(c)(3) animal welfare charity serving Montgomery County and beyond, has served the community since 1958.

We pull cats, and dogs from overcrowded shelters in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia and West Virginia and provide loving care, medical attention, spay/neuter, vaccinations, socialization and basic training while they await adoption into forever homes. We also provide post-adoption support as new pet owners introduce and transition their pets into their new home.

In addition, our education and outreach programs emphasize the importance of animal welfare in the community and help pet owners keep their pets at home and out of shelters. We offer education for all ages, beginning with pre-school, and workshops and other classes for adults.

In 2014, MCHS transitioned to a 100% privately-funded, no-kill cat and dog rescue, and since then we’ve adopted nearly 2,300 pets into loving new homes.  See our Facebook page for some of the many “happy ending” stories in which our adopted pets are thriving in their new homes and enriching the lives of their new families.

We encourage you to support our important work to help homeless animals and the community with your donation today.

On behalf of the animals, thank you very much for your support!
