This past Holiday Season the Foundation worked with the City of New Meadows to once again light up the tree in town.  This will be ongoing and the goal is to increase the participation in this event.  It is hoped that the businesses will come onboard and light up the main street.  It has been 5 years since we purchased the new LED lights and while maintenance has been completed for this year we are going to need replacement bulbs and a couple of new strands.  We will be working with the City's new Parks and Recreation Department to keep this event moving forward.

We have applied to ITC for a grant to update our Winter and Summer Guides showing all of the wonderful things to do in Meadows Valley.  These will be placed in the Kiosk and around town to encourage travelers to stop and stay awhile in our beautiful area.

We are also working on obtaining a grant to replace our three aging Entrance Signs.  The wood is is deteriorating and we are looking into something such as stone and concrete.  This will be a major project and we will need to raise matching funds to accomplish this improvement.

ABOUT US

The seeds for the Meadows Valley Community Foundation were sown in early 2011 in a community review conducted by the Idaho Rural Partnership.  Experts from various academic, state and federal agencies and business development consultancies conducted an extensive review of the Meadows Valley community, with focuses on economic development, recreational resource development, community design and identity, community arts and historic features, civic life and community involvement.  A key recommendation was for the community to continue meeting for community development initiatives.  Some of the Idaho Rural Partnership collaborators continued to meet with the community, and it was in these discussions that the value of a local community foundation came to light.

Meadows Valley, like many rural communities, has a legacy of volunteer activities that have benefitted the local community by supporting emergency services, seniors, beautification and fund raising for schools, parks, etc.  Few of these committees have had the benefit of an official IRS not-for-profit status, aka a 501 (c) (3) corporation.  With the formation of the MVCF, these organizations and committees can come under the umbrella of the Foundation and provide tax deductibility for donations that benefit the community.  That is only one benefit that stems from the MVCF.  As an umbrella not-for-profit corporation, doors are opened for many more monetary grants than would be available to these committees.

Currently the Meadows Valley Community Foundation is an umbrella for numerous activities and committees which do a terrific job contributing to the vitality and beauty of Meadows Valley.  These include Meadows Valley Days, Meadows Valley Snow Event, Packer John’s Cabin, Community Enhancement, Pickleball, the Meadows Valley Easter Egg Hunt and the Holiday Lights.  MVCF provides a banking account for their funds and accounting to pay expenses and accept donations.  MVCF will look forward to aggressive solicitation of grant money which will benefit the entire community, either in association with other entities such as the City of New Meadows, or on behalf of the community at large.
