What Sets Us Apart

What makes us special compared to other Meals on Wheels organizations is that we do not accept any government funding or subsidies. Instead, we are 100% funded by meal payments and your generous donations.

  • We deliver meals directly to the home 5 days a week
  • We deliver 2 meals per day - 1 hot meal and 1 cold meal
  • We include extra food for weekend meals at no additional cost
  • There are NO income restrictions
  • We employ a certified dietitian to ensure nutritious, balanced meals
  • We offer diabetic-friendly meal options with no additional fee
  • We serve 19 boroughs of the Greater Wilkes-Barre area

Due to rising food and supplies costs and operating expenses, we currently lose $4 for every meal we serve. We need your support to continue serving our community.

Free Home Delivery

Our clients receive a home-delivered hot meal and a cold boxed lunch each day, Monday through Friday. Our registered dietitian directs the program and supervises the preparation of the meals each day. Diabetic diets are also available. We currently deliver to more than 90 individuals, regardless of their age or income status. In addition, as a means of respite for a caregiver, our meals can be delivered to an individual for a temporary period of time.

Did you know? Our clients pay only $6 per meal, while the cost to make meals is around $10 per meal.

Donations help us offset that cost and continue providing meals and delivering smiles to individuals throughout Wyoming Valley. Even as costs continue  All donations to Meals on Wheels of Wyoming Valley during NEPA Gives will be used to offset the cost of meals, keeping meals affordable and accessible to those who need them.

Meals on Wheels of Wyoming Valley provides seniors in our community with access to adequate nutrition, friendly conversation and a watchful eye on their well-being. In addition to seniors, we provide meals to people:

  • on fixed and limited incomes
  • veterans and people with special needs
  • recently discharged from a hospital
  • recently discharged from a nursing home
  • convalescing from illness
  • unable to prepare meals for themselves

We couldn't continue to deliver affordable meals with a smile to our community without your support. Thank you!
