OUR VISION

No senior will go hungry or experience social isolation.

OUR MISSION

We enrich the lives of seniors and assist them in maintaining independence by providing nutritious food, human connections, and social support. We also use our expertise and capacity to serve other nutritionally at-risk populations.

OUR IMPACT IN CLARK COUNTY

Since 2006, our service in Clark County has only deepened. Last year alone, we delivered over 165,700 meals to more than 1,740 older adults across the county. But our mission goes beyond meals. With the help of more than 405 dedicated volunteers, we provide companionship and social support, helping our older neighbors to live independently and with dignity.

Our efforts are buoyed by The Diner Vancouver, where every purchase and donated tip supports our mission to end hunger and social isolation among older adults in Clark County.

INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS BORN IN CLARK COUNTY

Pet Program:
Recognizing that pets are family, too, our Pet Program, initiated in Clark County, ensures that seniors don't have to choose between taking care of their furry companions or themselves. This unique initiative supports the well-being of both our seniors and their pets, affirming the importance of the bond they share.

Diners Club:
Another pioneering effort started here in Clark County is our Diners Club program. It offers older adults an expanded range of menu choices, greater flexibility in dining times, and the wonderful opportunity to dine out with loved ones at participating restaurants throughout Clark, Multnomah, and Washington counties.

LARRY'S STORY

Life hasn’t been easy for Larry, but his 6-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, Mojo, has been his anchor. Mojo is more than a pet; he’s Larry’s service dog, best friend, and constant companion.

About a year and a half ago, Larry faced mounting expenses for Mojo’s allergy treatments — nearly $400 a month — draining his limited resources. At the same time, his own health deteriorated. “I ended up in the hospital for malnutrition,” he recalls. “I just didn’t have food.”

Larry, a longtime resident of Vancouver, Washington, has endured significant health challenges, including kidney cancer and degenerative bone disease. Living with these conditions has taken a toll. “I’m never going to be in a relationship,” he says. “Mojo fills that void. He’s everything to me.”

Meals on Wheels People stepped in when Larry needed it most, providing not just nutritious meals but companionship through regular volunteer visits. “There’s a lot more to it than just the meals,” Larry says. Through its Pet Program, MOWP also connected Larry with resources to treat Mojo’s allergies. “Now it’s under control,” Larry says.

With consistent meals and Mojo’s health stabilized, some of the stress has lifted. “It’s very stressful when you’re struggling with your health and your pet’s health,” he says. “That’s a lot of weight off my shoulders.”

For Larry, the impact of MOWP goes beyond physical nourishment. “They’ve done so much for me and my pet,” he says. “It’s meant a lot to me emotionally.” With Mojo by his side, Larry takes life one day — and one walk — at a time. Thanks to MOWP, he’s not walking through it alone.

OUR STORY

Founded in 1970 by three visionary women, Meals on Wheels People has been driven by a simple yet profound mission: ensuring that no senior goes hungry or feels alone. From our early days of delivering nutritious meals to older neighbors in need, we’ve grown into a community lifeline, offering food, friendship, and a connection for thousands of older adults in Clark County.
