Medfield Destination has two teams travelling to the Globals Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Our Project Outreach team identified a real community need and carried out a project to address the need and created an advertisement to use in the project and a marketing brochure to describe the project.  The team played music for the senior citizens in Medfield at the Senior Center.  Our Coming Attractions team presented a live movie trailer involving characters from two nations (France and England), a cinematic special effect (a giant hand levitating one of the characters) and an original soundtrack (that may be heard on the youtube video). Our two teams of Medfield students recently showcased incredible problem-solving skills and amazing talent at the Destination Imagination (DI) State Tournament. Our creative efforts paid off as our two teams were named as a Massachusetts State Champion in their respective challenge divisions. Our success has earned us a place at the DI Global Tournament to be held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, May 23-27, 2012 where we will have the opportunity to compete with more than 900 teams from the US, Canada and 10 other countries. Destination Imagination is a non-profit organization that sponsors a creative problem-solving program. Medfield students have participated in DI and its predecessor program, Odyssey of the Mind, for more than 20 years.  We are now on a major fund raising campaign – doing everything from a raffle to a car wash to represent Massachusetts at the Global Tournament. Although Medfield DI is a school sponsored program, the cost of the event is not funded by the Medfield Schools. Preliminary cost estimate for our two teams to attend the Global Tournament is $20,000. We have our bags packed and hope you can help us fund Global Tournament expenses with a tax deductible contribution.
