The Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions believes that medical knowledge from the past needs to be preserved, brought back to light and once again made available as a source of information for discoveries still to be made. It performs research and provides education, in order to better serve the needs of contemporary world.

Capitalizing on 35 years of research by its founders, the Institute provides information from ancient documents in Greek, Latin and Arabic, on the therapeutic uses of natural substances as a short-cut for the development of the many new medicines that are urgently needed worlwide.

Relying on a vast consortium of knowledge repositories across the globe and working in collaboration with a large network of specialists from a broad range of disciplines, research in the Institute generates a unique and new information not otherwise available, by:

• systematically searching for overlooked and unknown documents in collections worldwide;
• transforming their content from handwriting into readable digital format;
• extracting the relevant information directly from the original language;
• accumulating and organizing huge quantities of data in a meaningful way;
• analyzing the many components of such data with all relevant available techniques, including high-tech, cutting-edge laboratory analysis of archaeological organic remains;
• interpreting information with the most appropriate methods and in collaboration with a broad spectrum of specialists.
