On Sunday, October 19, MAAV will hold its 19th Annual Walk & Candlelight Vigil.

End the Silence. Stop the Violence.

That's the theme of this year's Walk, and it speaks to the purpose of this community-wide event. Held annually in October -- Domestic Violence Awareness Month -- MAAV's Walk & Candlelight Vigil is held to raise awareness about domestic violence and commemorate the victims of domestic violence in our state over the past year.

The funds raised from this event help MAAV continue our outreach and prevention programs, including:

• Community awareness & outreach activities
• Weekly support group for victims and survivors of domestic violence
• Dating violence prevention and leadership programs for teens
• Bullying prevention for students, staff & parents
• Mentoring program for youth at risk
