The “old “ North Street school now known as Memorial Recreation Center was built in 1888 with an addition built in 1924. In 1947 North St. School’ was converted to a YMCA facility for the African American Community until 1968. Today, Memorial Recreation Center (MRC), Inc. is a non-profit Community Center located on North Ave., west of Jonathan St. The center provides goods and services that have a direct impact on the youth and families in the immediate and surrounding communities
