Mission

The Food Bank's mission is to fight hunger through the efficient collection and distribution of wholesome food and through education and advocacy. Almost 20,000 people a week depend on food from The Food Bank for their next meal; more than 30% are children. Non-profit agencies and qualified faith-based programs in TN, AR, and MS save $17 million a year in food costs and can use their resources to help  people solve their life problems. Hunger is a symptom, not a cause. Four Kids Cafes and nine Food for Kids BackPack programs address food and nutrition for needy children. Produce is delivered to senior centers and other agencies and surplus prepared food is collected by appointment. It is delivered to onsite agencies ready to be served.

Programs

Mid-South Food Bank is a member of Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network). The Food Bank is the only organization, public or private, in the Mid-South to supply food to any qualified charitable feeding program.  In 2007, we distributed 9.3 million pounds of food and grocery items to agencies and churches in a 31-county service area, including 12 in TN, 18 in MS and 1 in AR.
