Menard Youth Initiative

A nonprofit organization

MYI is doing big things in Menard! Aside from the brand-new playground at American Legion Park last year, we are joining The Menard News to put on the second annual Helicopter Easter Egg Drop at the Presidio de San Saba grounds on Friday, April 18 (Good Friday). We had TEN times the amount of Easter goodies for the area youth to collect. They were also able to meet and take photos with the Easter Bunny after his last drop off. All of this is FREE for the kids. Some of these children have never seen or been near a helicopter, so seeing the Easter Bunny disperse gifts from one is a big deal.

In addition to providing a new public playground, MYI is dedicated to breaking the cycle of MHS graduates quitting college and returning home to work for minimal wages with no pathway to career and life fulfillment.

MYI was able to front tuition for a recent MHS graduate to cover the span between course registration and when the student grants were to be dispersed. MYI is a firm believer that traditional university is not always the best choice for every high school graduate. We are committed to assisting Menard graduates in whatever means of higher education they choose to pursue. The ultimate goal is to be there when our young people need a little extra boost as they transition into the real world.

For the past couple of years, we have taken on facilitating the Jess Black Memorial Scholarship for a Menard High School graduate.

We have so many exciting plans in store for Menard, and its young people. Your monetary donation will only take us further, faster.
