Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky & Southwest Ohio (MHANKYSWOH) helps people explore options for recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders and support them through the process. Starting at enrollment, staff gain understanding of individual needs and work with the individual to create a personalized plan addressing health, home, purpose, and community- the key components to build a life in long-term, sustained recovery. Navigating complex systems is hard and MHANKYSWOH peer supports are always ready to help.
We’re also busy in the community changing the landscape through advocacy, education, and wellness promotions. Our latest campaign is “Choose wellness. Choose you.” We all make many choices every day that impact our health and wellbeing. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began many people reported feeling isolated, scared, tired, anxious and depressed. The good news is you can make positive choices every day to improve your health. Our wellness coordinators and coaches can help with that, too. We’re particularly interested in reducing burnout in the health and public safety workforce and increasing access to care and supports in rural and medically underserved communities. A quick way to choose wellness for yourself is to take a free online (confidential) screening.
Our core areas of service include:
Education: Evidence-based training and community education programs to increase knowledge of mental health, wellness, and recovery.
Certified Peer Support: Individuals with lived experience in recovery offer knowledge, support, and practical assistance for people experiencing mental illness and/or addiction.
Safety Net: Services assist individuals at risk to fall through cracks by providing additional support to meet basic needs, including help with employment, free counseling, payee services, and more.
