Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas Inc

A nonprofit organization

It is estimated that 1 in 4 individuals face mental health challenges each year. Yet mental health is something that people don't talk about and simply brush off. By saying things like "get over it" or "suck it up" people continue to stigmatize mental illness. Yet mental illness affects one quarter of our population.

Mental illness comes in more forms than just severe and persistent mental illnesses like bipolar or schizophrenia. Mental illness also encompasses stress, depression, anxiety and trauma related disorders. These are things that we all encounter at some point in our lives. Yet we don't talk about it.

MHA provides a variety of services across the entire life span. These services include prevention, mentoring, community based services for children and adults, family services, therapy, substance abuse, medication management, companionship for seniors, elder abuse prevention and intervention and housing.  Through more than 30 programs, MHA ‘s 270 staff and 150 volunteers provide services to more than 11,000 individuals each year.

By donating to MHA you help us educate the community about the importance of good mental health while as providing much needed services to those who are currently suffering from mental health problems. Much like cancer and diabetes, mental illness is treatable; but the earlier you get the help the sooner you will recover. You wouldn’t wait until cancer was in stage 4 to begin treatment, mental illness is no different.
