Mentor Tutor Connection

Mentor Tutor Connection addresses the need for academic, social and emotional support among underserved youth in Mountain View and Los Altos public schools.  Our goal is to help vulnerable students fulfill their potential in school and in life through positive relationships that foster self-esteem, healthy behaviors, and academic success.  To achieve this, we recruit, train and place caring adults as either Tutors or Mentors in Mountain View and Los Altos public schools.  

This letter that a Mentor received from his grown and graduated mentee illustrates the difference our volunteers make.

Hi Dwight,

It just dawned on me that I never told you thank you for your support and mentorship.

Prior to meeting you, I had no one to look up to and no positive male role model. As a result, I lost hope in my future and was on the verge of becoming my worst nightmare - a deadbeat father and a street thug.

The conversations we've had (and continue to have) during our lunch/dinner meetings about life, family, school, success, etc. are part of my success. They instilled me with confidence, inspiration, and a renewed sense of self. They will never go in vain.

Once again, thank you for your support, wisdom, and most importantly, for believing in me.
