Mesabi East Environmental Education Center

The Mesabi East Environmental Education Center (ME3C) was established in 2018 and is part of the Mesabi East Schools district in Aurora Minnesota. ME3C was previously a greenhouse & floral gift shop that operated in our community for over 30 years.  We are grateful that we can continue to bring greenhouse services back to the community while educating students about hydroponics, microgreens, sprouts, Farm2School, environmental responsibility and stewardship, sustainability, processing and preserving foods, and traditional gardening methods and so much more. We are also in the process of establishing community gardens onsite through a grant we were awarded. The Industrial Tech students have had the opportunity to participate in real-life hands-on projects at ME3C and also raise some money for their department through garden metalwork as the Art Department has done. Monies received through this effort will be used to fund an outdoor area that will not only be a classroom but also an area where our Farmer Markets can be held, community ed classes taught, multigenerational activities held, among other all-inclusive events.
