Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer CJ Corneliussen-James, Avis Halberstadt, Karen Presswood and Rhonda Rhodes co-founded METAvivor in 2009.  Unfortunately,both Karen and Rhonda have succumbed to the disease.  We have come a long way since our beginnings, but we still remain an organization dedicated to our mission and run by volunteers.

People always ask us how our organization is different from other breast cancer groups.  Well, we are one of only a few groups that are dedicated to women and men with metastatic breast cancer, the type of breast cancer that is terminal.  If you know someone that has died from breast cancer, there is a 99% chance, they died from metastatic breast cancer.  And, unlike many other organizations, since we have no paid staff members, 100% of every donation goes toward our mission.
