Metro Blooms

Who We Are

Metro Blooms envisions a just future of thriving communities where all people connect with and care for the land, water, and diverse life around them. We advocate alongside communities impacted by environmental injustice, recognizing everyone’s rights to clean air, land and water. We are in kinship with the natural world, acknowledging that people and the environment are tied together.

A Just Future of Thriving Communities

Working in direct collaboration with communities, we install rain gardens, plant trees, and create thriving green spaces for all Minnesotans.

A Just Future: We create leadership and employment opportunities for young adults.

Thriving Communities: We create vibrant habitat and shared green spaces through diverse, long-term relationships based on care and collaboration.

Care for land and water: We make sustainable yard care approachable and actionable through accessible resources and guidance.

We believe that environmental and social justice are deeply interconnected, and that everyone has a right to clean air, land, and water.

Through collaborative learning and a commitment to reparative action, Metro Blooms supports people—especially those in communities disproportionately impacted by environmental harm—through projects that improve water quality, expand pollinator habitat, and strengthen connections to nature.

Programs Your Gift Supports

We bring a holistic approach to our work in nurturing thriving ecosystems, land, and water with community:

• Our Sustainable Landcare Training engages BIPOC youth and young adults from Twin Cities environmental justice communities in paid landcare training that builds pathways in green careers while responding to community needs.

• Our Community Relations team partners with environmental justice communities to envision and create accessible green spaces for climate adaptability and resilience, supporting water, land, and pollinators.

• Our statewide Blue Thumb education programs help Minnesotans reimagine their yards as places that care for clean water, pollinators, and the natural world. Through accessible education and practical resources, the program makes native planting and sustainable landscaping approachable for residents across Minnesota.
