Giving Tuesday is a special international day of giving. It is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Please join us in celebrating Giving Tuesday by supporting Metropolitan Washington Ear (MWE) on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 to recognize MWE's good work to bring current news and information to those who cannot read print materials.
MWE has a staff of six full and part-time employees who manage a volunteer force of 300 plus individuals who read newspapers, magazines, journals, bulletins, shopping and grocery ads on a daily basis. Our radio and Dial-in services bring current news and information to over 5,400 listeners. We provide Audio Description for live theater. MWE provides a daily look-up service to find needed information for our blind listeners. MWE also offers weekly schedules of Audio Described Televison programming and movies throughout the area. Throughout the pandemic, we have provided vital news and information including government guidelines, testing sites, and vaccine availability. Our listeners have depended on our service to provide life-saving information regarding COVID-19 as well as news for daily living. Many of our listeners describe our services as their lifeline.
