In addition to direct service programming, MHA offers community education to reduce stigma, empower the community with information on identifying mental illness, provide information about the ways to support mental wellness, and connect individuals with needed mental health resources.  Advocacy activities are centered on educating policy makers and other elected officials about the importance of mental health and its impact on the residents of this community.  MHA focuses its service delivery within Montgomery County, MD.  The organization’s education and advocacy impact reaches well beyond the County’s boarders and often engages individuals from throughout the Washington, DC region.
