Miami Music Archive

The Miami Music Archive is a nonprofit organization that has been privately preserving rare, alternative media in Miami for over six decades.  Our mission is to archive and celebrate the rich musical heritage of Miami while keeping current with the local DIY media and arts scene.

In november 1 2025 we moved to a new location in Little River area after helping set up Churchill's Pub during most of 2025. while moving on the morning of November 3 while going thought construction at Golden Glades Turnpike exchange the rented trailer from Uhaul came off my truck due to incorrect tow ball size it started to swing and sway until i struck a divider wall ended faced the other direction when 3 cars that were following me were pulling over a a van stopped to shield me a car came speeding around the van and hit my truck as i was trying to get out and was ejected out and ended up in the hospital for about 2 months with avery slow recovery following i am now still setting up the new location which will have a full service recording studio for local musicians and a online radio station and interview studio for local artist plus our already extensive archive we had in  Opa Locka for 3 years will mostly be complete by end of November 2026.

We envision the Miami Music Archive as a repository of historical records, artifacts, and a hub where the arts community can actively participate in the preservation and promotion of our musical heritage.  To achieve this, we are assembling a dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about music and culture of Miami. This community-run approach ensures that our archive remains relevant and responsive to the needs and interests of the communities we serve.

Currently the Miami Music Archive houses decades of an ever-expanding collection. There are thousands of records and hundreds of rare books, zines, art, films, videos, instruments and recording equipment. Through collaborations with local musicians, educators, and cultural organizations, we have curated a comprehensive collection of recordings, photographs, memorabilia, and oral histories that tell the story of Miami's music from past to present.  By making these resources accessible to the public through exhibitions, educational programs, and digital platforms, we will inspire learning, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the DIY local music and arts scene.

Your support would significantly enhance our capacity to fulfill our mission and expand our  efforts.  Our own funds have been used for the preservation of archival materials, the development of educational resources by way or workshops, online events, live performances and art exhibits.  New funds will enable us to establish sustainable practices for long-term preservation and accessibility, ensuring that the Miami Music Archive remains a valuable resource for generations to come.
