Michigan Employment & Training Plus

My name is Chet M. Pitts, founder of Michigan Employment & Training Plus, DBA (MET|PLUS) a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. I understand the importance of being able to financially support a family. I know that if you can’t generate an income then you can’t survive in this world. After working in the Employment & Training industry I realized finding a job is a job that requires experience, education, guidance, and networking and to maintain it takes skill training that sometimes come with unforeseen cost. I have seen job seekers with the highest degrees and sometimes experience but yet can’t find the job they seek because they don’t have a network connection within that company. The job seekers need an advocate that employers could trust to know that they gave it their all to prepare the job seekers for employment. This would definitely help eliminate employer vulnerability when searching for potential applicants. We want to provide job readiness, workforce education and placement for both job seekers and employers under the same roof in which would enable the agency to monitor the process and progress of its clients. This is why I started MET PLUS to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers. This workforce development training center will provide free hands on vocational training to all Michigan residents that meet our income requirements. MET PLUS also understands social responsibility so the hands on training will be provided through the direction of certified results driven instructors that will contribute to the rebuilding, improving and maintaining neglected and or damaged communities through various projects. This will together create a strong economy for individuals and communities.

We are seeking funds that will contribute to the purchase of a vacant Detroit Public School to convert into our workforce development training center. If we are unable to purchase the school right out, we would like to raise funds to lease the school with an option to buy which will give us funds to provide some repairs and possibly apply any remaining funds to the purchase of the school.

We are seeking to raise the funds by the end of 2016 so that we can acquire the vacant school to secure it to protect it from any further damages.

This means a lot to our organization because this will help stabilize and interconnect individuals, companies and communities. If we are able to stabilize and connect the three with this center, this hub, then we are able to project a more stabilized future for the children of Michigan.
