Michigan Humane

Since 1877, Michigan Humane's mission has been to improve and save lives for animals and the people who love them. Nearly 150 years later, that mission hasn't wavered, even as our work has grown, carried forward through compassionate care, community engagement, and advocacy for animals.

Care. Each year, we keep 40,000 families together through our Caplan Family Pet Food Pantry and community veterinary care programs; care for and achieve 100% adoption of more than 7,000 healthy and treatable animals; and serve 25,000 owned pets at our veterinary clinics.

Engagement. We're training the next generation to care the way we do, inspiring 1,400 future veterinarians through career pathway and workforce development programs. We engage our community to celebrate the human animal bond through messaging, our annual Tailgate walk and run event, and our Purrfect Bow Wow Brunch gala.

Advocacy. Through cruelty investigation and rescue, we show up when it matters most, safeguarding neighborhoods and standing up for animals who can't stand up for themselves. And we work closely with legislators to support laws that protect and improve the lives of animals in Michigan.
