The Michigan Veterans Foundation (MVF) is a 501C (3) non-profit agency whose overall objective is to fill the gaps that currently exist in providing services to Michigan’s Veterans. MVF’s main project is the Detroit Veterans Center - a well-planned and well supported community effort. The Detroit Veterans Center (DVC) is a transitional housing facility and resource center. The DVC provides the skills and confidence needed for homeless Veterans to break the cycle of homelessness and return to independent living. This includes the specific goals of residential stability, increased skill level, increased income, and greater self-determination to obtain and maintain self-sufficiency. Veterans in the program are in a safe, structured environment designed to lead them back into society through professional guidance and veteran-to-veteran reinforcement. 

The DVC works in collaboration with a multitude of human service providers, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies to meet the veteran’s medical, psychological, and educational needs. The Detroit Veterans Center is transforming homeless Veterans into independent wage earners and taxpayers who will have a positive impact on their community, state and nation. These once homeless patriots are rejoining the community, which called upon them to preserve the freedoms that we all enjoy.

 The program currently heavily depends on government grants, accounting for 99 percent of its funding. However, with the conclusion of the public health emergency on May 11, 2023, the foundation is at high risk of shutting down due to a 50 percent funding cut starting from May 12, 2023. Your support is crucial now to prevent the foundation's closure and ensure its ongoing operation. The primary mission of the Michigan Veterans Foundation is to:

* Fill the gaps in the current service delivery system; 

*Operate a transitional living facility; *Coordinate services within the existing Continuum of Care network,

 * Act as an advocate on behalf of disenfranchised veterans and

 *Place the Veteran in appropriate permanent housing.
