MicroSociety creates learning environments that are meaningful and relevant to children. We help children find meaning and purpose in their education, and prepare them to be discerning students as they proceed through higher education and ultimately into adulthood as productive, contributing citizens and skilled innovators in a global economy. We promote society-based education as a means to enrich the educational experience of elementary and middle school students, increase student academic achievement, and promote the development of self-actualized, motivated and entrepreneurially-minded youth.

We also offer a MicroSociety After School. It provides opportunities for underprivileged students to explore their interests and talents while applying aspects from all core curricula to create and run working businesses – from art galleries to community banks. MicroSociety helps students develop self-confidence and autonomy as they construct their own micro-economy, paying taxes and rent, as well as working together to establish a system of government complete with functioning courts and service agencies. Through partnerships with Philadelphia businesses and working professionals, the MicroSociety model helps students draw the connection between success in the real world and success in the classroom. Regular attendance will boost standardized test scores and help engage kids in school programming and activities. The After School Program will focus on STEM. Youth will be challenged to explore concepts in STEM-related fields in a fun, challenging, and nurturing environment.
