The Mid-South Minority Business Council Continuum (The MMBC Continuum), a non-traditional, minority economic development agency, has a long standing history and nearly 40 years of experience providing strategic growth solutions to minority businesses. The MMBC Continuum serves over 650 Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) located in the Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area which includes eight counties in West Tennessee, Eastern Arkansas and Northern Mississippi. The organization’s mission is to provide unparalleled core business development resources that empower minority and women-owned businesses to successfully compete in the global economy. The many programs help build the capacity of certified M/WBEs through technical assistance, financial assistance, and supplier certification programs.
The MMBC Continuum, the economic accelerator for stage II M/WBEs, is strategically positioned to enhance the growth of scalable minority and women-owned firms through its alliances and partnerships with CEOs of major local, regional and national corporations, elected officials, representatives of the U.S. Department of Commerce and other regional economic development agencies for the purpose of job creation. It also serves to address the supply/demand equation between corporations and M/WBEs by accelerating the development of minority business to meet and exceed the minimum standards of major purchasing companies to get minority firms to the “Point of Economic Entry” whereby M/WBEs are capable of openly competing in a full market economy that requires threshold standards of vendor capability.
The MMBC Continuum, a 501(c)(6) organization, is the Greater Memphis’ foremost minority business development organization and is highly respected by the private and public sector community as a trusted source of knowledge and expertise. In a collaborative effort with its sister organization, the MMC-TADP, Inc. (TADP), a 501(c)(3) training and development program, The MMBC Continuum offers a variety of business training, development, and technical assistance services focused on the strategic and disciplined growth of minority businesses. The TADP and The MMBC Continuum work together to bring world-class programs and services to M/WBEs in the mid-south to promote minority economic development.
YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP
One of the premier programs under the TADP is the 2GMBE Program. The 2GMBE or Second Generation Minority Business Entrepreneurship Program is designed to empower youth to build scalable businesses or companies in high growth industries. The 2GMBE program is comprised of two initiatives. The first initiative is the 2GMBE Academy, which is a two-day experience that exposes youth to the foundational principles of entrepreneurship and culminates with a pitch to mock investors. The second initiative is a customized business seminar for youth that is presented as part of our annual economic development conference. Your support for the 2GMBE will allow the TADP to connect with more youth and will also serve as a worthwhile investment in future leaders of tomorrow .
