The objective of the District is to create a diverse, welcoming, and vibrant cultural destination for the visual, performing and culinary arts as a catalyst for community regeneration, sustainability and livability.  

Restaurants, arts related retail stores, galleries, dance studios, studio space (live/work) and entertainment venues are a few of the planned economic development ventures in the District.  The District is a 501 (c) 6 organization operating as a community development corporation.  

Some examples of our events for the 2012 season included: Four Pop-Up art exhibits, Chorus Angelorum concert, Carter Scott and Celester Rue opera recital, Michael Jackson exhibit and films, Ball State graduate student art exhibit, Graduate School of the Art Institute exhibit, and Maria Callas film and lecture.  

In 2013, the District season included: 3 film and lecture nights, 3 Pop-up arts events, Ed Asner production of "FDR", Chorus Angelorum concert, Northwest Indiana Symphony Concert in the Park, and the following exhibits, Larry Odell Dillion, Wirt Emerson Visual and Performing Arts, Sand Mandala "Sacred Arts Tours", Hannah Barnes, Notre Dame Graduate School of Fine Arts, and Valparaiso University Art Faculty Exhibit.

The 2014 season opens with the exciting BeadTown display by German artist Stephan Wanger.  The season will continue to include varied displays, lectures, exhibits, movies, concerts, sales, events, and more!!
