Mingus Project/Santa Cruz Advocates for the Arts

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the people of Santa Cruz County in Arizona and to promote life-long learning and engagement in the arts through our programs: the annual Charles Mingus Hometown Music Festival in April, one or two day-long educational programs for Santa Cruz high and middle school band members and the erection and maintenance of the Charles Mingus Memorial Park located at the former entrance to the segregated army camp where Charles Mingus was born in 1922.
