We are the Minority Education Freedom Foundation (MEFF), a non-profit organization founded by a Colombian immigrant with the goal of improving the quality of life for women, children, immigrants, and minorities in Michigan. We achieve this by providing information and tools through community and educational programs, cross-cultural interactions, and art experiences.
Since our inception in 2021, our foundation has been a beacon of hope and support for the community. As Latino immigrants in the US, we understand how challenging it is to advance without proper information, especially when it comes to building credit history and acquiring financial education, which often differs greatly from one's place of origin.
To address this need, we offer free financial education workshops throughout the year. However, to continue providing these workshops, we rely on funding, which primarily comes from private donations and the proceeds of the Talentos Latinos Awards.
The Talentos Latinos Awards is one of our flagship events. This year, the 2024 Talentos Latinos Awards is scheduled for October 3rd during Hispanic Heritage Month. This celebration recognizes the invaluable contributions of unsung Hispanic heroes within Michigan's Hispanic community—individuals who tirelessly work to uplift our Hispanic culture and community. The event features an array of folkloric dances from different countries in Latin America and performances by top Latino artists, creating a vibrant showcase of our rich cultural heritage.
The Talentos Latinos Awards not only honor these remarkable individuals but also serve as a critical fundraising initiative to support and expand our programs, particularly those focused on financial literacy and economic empowerment. Last year, thanks to a grant and generous contributions from supporters like you, we were able to reach several families, providing them with the tools and knowledge to achieve financial stability in the U.S.
We are seeking funding to ensure the continuation and growth of this important cultural and community event. Your support will help cover costs associated with venue rental, performer fees, event logistics, and promotional activities, ensuring a successful and impactful event. Additionally, your contribution will strengthen the free financial literacy and art programs that we provide to our community by backing initiatives that offer real, tangible benefits to Hispanic immigrants in Michigan.
Thank you for considering supporting the Talentos Latinos Awards and our mission to educate and empower the Hispanic Latino community.
