WHAT OTHERS SEE AND EXPERIENCE AT MHFK
5-Star Review from one of our Shining Stars:
"Mission Hope means a lot to me and if Mission Hope wasn't invented, then I would have to do homework at home. They are the best cook and the nicest people I ever met and kindest people. When I grow up, I want to work here. It's the best place on earth. I hope that this place stays the way it is! It makes me feel so so happy."
Volunteers:
"It's my honor to serve MHFK. I'm thankful to be blessed & surrounded by such giving people"
"I love my "MHFK" kids. They bring me close to God and make me happy"
"My daughter began volunteering last year & she'd return home with an infectious happiness. I wanted to be a sufferer too!"
"Getting away from my office and spending time with the students motivates me to volunteer. I enjoy watching the students learn."
"I love the kids. Knowing that I help bring children closer to God is priceless to me."
"I want to be there for the children. I know they look for me when they come, as I do them. I love them so much. I can't imagine NEVER being here!"
Community Partners:
"Mission Hope for Kids is a program that is changing lives and the future of an entire generation in the Heartland of America."
“Because MHFK supports our most vulnerable student population, the positive impact is evident to our school staff. The extra academic support, beyond what our school can provide, is priceless for our students. It gives them a sense that not only does the school care about their success, but the community is behind them too”.
Kiddos:
"I like when they give you a toy on your birthday."
"I like attending MHFK because they aren't rude to me, but they treat me like family. They care about me"
"If we feel down, they help us "up".
"I like the cook's food and faith time because I like to learn about God"
"Being able to get books to read and people reading to me"
"I'm sad when it's over because Mission Hope helps me with so much. I'm sad when I have to leave the teachers and can't play with my friends. I'm sad that I can't learn about God when it's over"
"What I like is you get dinner so your mom doesn't have to cook"
"MHFK is fun, the teachers are nice and we have "babeq chicing" (BBQ chicken)
"MHFK means everything to me. It's jaw-dropping awesome"
Families:
"If it wasn't for the mission, many would not be able to do their homework, dress like others at school, know JESUS, get a hot meal, have friends, and do any activities because they can't afford it."
"Volunteers help our children succeed, to learn about Jesus and take it back to their homes. That my friend is called unconditional love"
OUR HISTORY
Mission Hope For Kids has been bringing hope to the youth of Hardin County, Kentucky, for almost a decade and formally as a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) since 2012. The driving force behind MHFK is a faith-based value system that has been in place since this group began as a local church community meeting in a living room setting in 2006. The growing need necessitated another meeting place.
In 2007, a handful of church members transported the children to be able to continue to care for them in a weekly bible study. Immediately after the program began, volunteers realized that these children had urgent physical needs, such as hunger, that cast a shadow over the ability to nurture spiritual needs. The church decided to begin a local chapter of Kid’s Café to help provide for both the physical & spiritual needs of the children. Under a larger umbrella organization, Kids Café flourished and soon was serving more than 150 children in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. With food for physical needs and faith-based activities for spiritual growth, volunteers still noted that the kids needed more.
Mission Hope for Kids was founded & begin to come alongside the schools & other county entities to develop a comprehensive program to help mentor and holistically nourish the children. With a safe environment that offers food, access to clothes & hygiene items, educational support, continuous care & mentoring by engaged adults, MHFK continues to “serve up hope” to some of the greatest kids in Hardin, County, so they can experience a better today and the brighter tomorrow that they deserve.
